John Reece
Coach U16 Reece
John was a high school all-star in both basketball and football. Although highly recruited by post-secondary institutions, John didn't play either sport at the college level and decided to concentrate on his academics. John graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from DeVry University in Phoenix, Arizona.
John's early involvement with coaching basketball began after graduating from Forest Lawn High School in Calgary when he returned to the school as an assistant coach for his younger brother's team. This team went on to win back to back city championships. John developed a love and a passion for coaching and started attending various coaching clinics. His first Head coaching job was with a Church league program to help kids stay off the streets.
John was an assistant coach at Chestermere High School for the 2000-2001 season and a Head coach for the Jr. Trojans during the spring of 2001. He has been coaching club basketball ever since. Many of his former players now play college basketball throughout Canada.
John has worked with John Hegwood conducting after school basketball programs in various Elementary schools throughout Calgary. This built the foundation for what is now the CYDC program.
By-the-way, did you know that John was the original President of CYDC?
