Shanna Meads

Shanna grew up the small town of Stony Plain, where she started playing club basketball from a young age. Shanna continued to play club basketball throughout her youth and played for Memorial Composite High School, just outside of Edmonton. After she graduated, she attended the University of Alberta, where she wrestled for a few years as a Panda. During this time she coached a U17 girls club team outside of Edmonton and skills camps to younger kids every spring and summer for several years. After obtaining her Bachelor of Education degree, Shanna moved to Calgary and is now a teacher at Father Lacombe High School. Shanna has coached both boys and girls basketball at the high school level over the past few years in Calgary, and looks forward to continue her coaching career with the CYDC family.

Shanna’s passion for coaching leads her to implement an intense and disciplined coaching style. Shanna’s focus in coaching is to not only create better skills regarding the game, but to create a sense of confidence, character, and positive attitude amongst the athletes she is coaching. Her coaching motto is: “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.”
